Pub Hopes to Reopen Soon

It’s been a few soggy weeks for one of Laxey’s favourite pubs, but there’s finally some good news on the horizon.

The Queen’s Hotel on New Road was forced to close its doors on October 23 after a burst pipe caused significant water damage throughout the building.

To make matters worse, owner Gary later confirmed that damaged floor tiles were found to contain asbestos, adding an extra (and rather unwanted) layer of drama to the clean-up operation.

Gary told Gef today that things are now heading in the right direction.

‘The asbestos has been removed, and we’re just waiting on the flooring company and plumbers to finish off. Hopefully we’ll be back open in around seven to ten days.’

Late last month, Gary took to social media to thank customers for their patience and understanding.
