Ramsey’s Cannabis Café ‘Closer Than Ever’

The team behind Ramsey’s upcoming Green Lounge, set to the island’s first medicinal cannabis wellness café, say the project is now entering its final, most determined phase, despite a challenging end to the year.

In a new update this week, co-founder Maria said December had ‘thrown every challenge it had’ at her, leaving her in full tunnel-vision mode as she worked to keep the project on track.

Even so, she reported that progress is moving faster than ever.

‘Planning is moving. Doors are opening. Conversations are happening that I never thought I’d have,’ she said.

‘We’re closer than ever, and the momentum is something else.’

Maria added that the project has ‘pushed, stretched and tested’ her, but also ‘woken up a version of me I’ve not seen in years’.

She remains focused on delivering a space she says the island genuinely needs.

‘I’m not slowing down. I’m not backing off… 2026 is going to change things on this island in a way that actually matters.’

The Green Lounge CSC, located at 66 Parliament Street (the former Rum Baba’s site), aims to become a supportive hub for medicinal cannabis patients, offering education, advocacy, creative workshops, wellbeing events and an alcohol-free social space.

It will also run a private Consumption Pass system for patients who legally use medicinal cannabis and want a safe, stigma-free place to do so.

Maria and fellow co-founder Daisy-May have previously described the café as ‘for patients, by patients’, saying the project has been years in the making and represents something completely new for the Isle of Man.

They also shared some frequently asked questions, such as ‘can I smoke a spliff inside?’. Simple answer to that is no, but you can find out more HERE.
