L’experience Restaurant, based in the Regency Hotel, has reopened after a small fire earlier this evening.

Fire crews were called to the restaurant at 4.35pm today.

Upon arrival, crews located a small fire in the basement area and extinguished it using a high pressure hose reel, they then checked the area for hot spots using a thermal imaging camera. Another was committed to help vent the property of smoke.

Owner Michael Murphy apologised to customers in a video on Facebook saying it was an ‘issue with one of our dryers’.

He added: ‘Thank you very much to Douglas fire brigade for doing an amazing job.’

Fire crews were in attendance for about 90 minutes.
