‘Spoons in Douglas?’ It’s Still Happening – And Here’s What’s on the Menu

After weeks of eager whispers and Facebook comments ranging from ‘finally!’ to ‘there goes the island’s nightlife down the pan’, the Isle of Man’s very first Wetherspoon has finally dropped its menu.

Set to open on Wednesday, May 14, The Conister Arms will take over the old 1886 Bar and Grill on Regent Street in Douglas, bringing with it all the signature Wetherspoon classics, controversial carpets (we hope), and budget breakfasts.

Boasting a whopping 725-person capacity spread across multiple floors — plus an outdoor seating area for catching rays (or rain) — the venue is shaping up to be the island’s largest spots to grab a pint, a plate, and a lengthy walk to the toilets.

But let’s get to the good stuff: the menu.

Breakfasts for the people

Serving from 8am until noon, the breakfast line-up is big.

Leading the charge is the large breakfast at £7.43 — featuring two fried eggs, bacon, two Lincolnshire sausages, beans, three hash browns, mushrooms, and two slices of toast. We’re getting full just typing that.

If you’re feeling a bit more delicate (read: hungover), there’s a traditional breakfast for £5.75 and a small breakfast for £3.99.

Plus, there are tea and toast combos, butties, wraps, and even breakfast muffins.

All-day mains and deals

From 11am through to 11.30pm, the main event takes over. Expect everything from pizzas and pastas to burgers, curries, pub classics and small plates.

Here’s a taste:

• Fish and chips with a soft drink – £12.14

• Margherita pizza (11 inch) – £10.73

• Chicken tikka masala – £11.90

But let’s be real — we all know it’s the deals that draw the crowds.

In true Spoons fashion, there’s:

• 3 small plates for £14.99 (that’s basically dinner, sorted)

• Deli deals starting at £6.55

• Afternoon deals at £8.14

• Gourmet burger deals at £11.95

So, whether you’re a student living on toast, a group of pals trying to get ten different meals on one table, or just here for the cheap pints  — The Conister Arms is gearing up to open its doors next month.
