Subway to Return to the Capital

Published

on

As we know, Subway is back on the island, but Douglas is now next in line.

After a two-year absence, the sandwich chain returned to Manx soil last September with a new branch at Spar Garage, Parliament Square, Ramsey, ending the wait since the Peel and Port Erin stores closed in 2023 after Shoprite sold up.

The comeback was made possible thanks to Mannin Retail, part of the Heron and Brearley Group, which partnered with Subway to relaunch the brand locally.

Now Spar Isle of Man has confirmed a new Subway will open in Douglas this Summer.

Douglas used to have a Subway in the old Shoprite building on Market Street, a location with a long supermarket history, having previously housed Liptons, Presto, Safeway and Shoprite over the last fifty years.

More recently, it was used by Manx Care as a Covid vaccination centre.

The exact location of the Douglas branch is still a mystery.

Spar teased on Facebook today: ‘Subway is Coming to Douglas This Summer!

‘We’ve got the subs. We’ve got the summer. Now all we need is… YOU to guess where we’re setting up shop!
