The Manxies are Taking Over
Craft rum producer the Outlier Distilling Company and tropical cocktail bar Kiki Lounge are teaming up to head to Islington’s Laki Kane bar next week.
Two Manx businesses will be jetting off to London next week to show that the island’s rum and cocktail scene is among the best.
Craft rum producer the Outlier Distilling Company and tropical cocktail bar Kiki Lounge are teaming up to head to Islington’s Laki Kane bar next week.
The Isle of Man might not immediately spring to mind when be it comes to rum or cocktails, but there’s a burgeoning cocktail scene led by Jamie Lewis and Drew Fleming from the Kiki Lounge and, on the spirits side, Ian Warborn-Jones and Rick Dacey at Outlier are producing rums that have picked up a following in the UK rum community.
Hoolie, Outlier’s 41% unaged rum creates an excellent daiquiri and is the first white rum made in the British Isles to be stocked at Harrods and Hurricane, Outlier’s 64% overproof rum has just picked up a Great Taste award.
Outlier and Kiki’s are regular collaborators, with Kiki’s ‘Manx Daiquiri’ using both rums and Co-Owner Fleming having used them in his winning cocktail when he claimed the 50 Best Bars The Blend Scholarship in October 2022.
Rick Dacey, Co-Founder of Outlier: ‘Part of the reason we started making rum in the first place is because we love its ethos. The rum community is open minded and welcoming. There’s always an eye on quality but it’s about the experience as well.’

The Takeover Menu
Outlier’s (not so) Tropical Island Takeover – Kiki Lounge X Laki Kane will take place on September 28 and include the following serves:
- Manx Daiquiri: Hoolie Manx White Rum / Hurricane Manx OP / Low-waste Lime / Sugar
- Pina Colada Old Fashioned: Hoolie White Rum / Grilled Pineapple Rum / Pineapple + Coconut Cordial / Orange Bitters
- Extra Fancy Highball: Hoolie Manx White Rum / Dry Vermouth / Pineapple / Thyme / Soda
- La Tormenta: House Lager / Hoolie Manx White Rum
Outlier rums Hoolie and Hurricane will continue to feature on the Laki Kane specials menu from the end of September through London Cocktail Week and over the UK Rum Festival weekend (October 15/16).
