Licence Plates
The Police are encouraging islands to be sure their licence plates are legal, both in size and colour.
The Roads Policing Unit said: ‘Over the last few months, we’ve had to deal with various issues in regards to licence plates. One of the most frequent issues we come across is licence plates being smaller than they should, with characters often being printed smaller to fit.
‘Not only does it mean we have to strain our eyes to see them (not always a good look), which is causing us (me) wrinkles, it also causes issues in identifying vehicles! Your licence plate should have characters at a minimum of 70mm high x 36mm, with 10mm stroke.
‘For motorbike plates, the height should be a minimum of 64mm. Further guidance can be found on the gov.im website, under number plates. Should you be found with a licence plate not meeting this requirement, you may be facing a fine.’
