Islanders Invited to Take the Leap

Islanders with a head for heights (or absolutely no fear whatsoever) are being given the chance to take a leap of faith this summer, quite literally, as a bungee jump is set to headline this year’s Southern Agricultural Show.

Organisers have confirmed the return of a 160ft ‘Jump for Joy’ Hospice bungee experience at Ballasalla on July 25 and 26, marking its comeback to the island after 15 years.

And if you needed any more encouragement (or mild peer pressure), even the big names are getting involved.

The island’s very own Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Lorimer, will be stepping off the platform, and he won’t be alone.

Joining him is Gef 30 Under 30 winner and podcast legend Percy Hampton, who will also be taking the plunge (and, presumably, bragging rights for life).

For those brave (or slightly unhinged) enough to sign up, the challenge involves launching yourself from a dizzying 160ft drop, all while taking in panoramic views across the south of the island.

The event is all in aid of Rebecca House Children’s Hospice, which provides specialist respite, palliative and end-of-life care for children and young people up to the age of 18 with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

The facility supports families every step of the way, offering everything from short-term respite stays to pain management and compassionate end-of-life care tailored to each child’s needs.
