Ever fancied seeing your name flying over the Isle of Man… for a very good reason?

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), the team behind the island’s life-saving helicopter transfers, has launched a unique fundraising campaign as it faces one of its biggest challenges yet: replacing its fleet.

And their idea? Pretty special.

They’re giving people the chance to have their name, or someone close to them, written on one of their brand new helicopters.Yes, really.

That means every time the aircraft lifts off on a mission, whether it’s helping a patient on the Isle of Man or elsewhere, your name could be right there on board.

A GNAAS spokesperson said: ‘This is your chance to have your name… displayed on one of our new helicopters, joining us on every mission we fly.

‘It’s more than a name. It’s a symbol of hope, support, and community.’

For those on the Isle of Man, it’s not just a nice idea, it’s personal.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed GNAAS will continue providing the island’s helicopter emergency medical service for at least the next five years, helping maintain the crucial ‘air bridge’ to the UK for seriously ill and injured patients.

The charity responds to around 20 incidents a year involving the Isle of Man, often in the most critical situations where speed really does mean everything.

But keeping that service in the sky isn’t cheap.

GNAAS says replacing its helicopters is essential to ensure it can continue responding to emergencies for years to come, and that’s where the public comes in.

Every donation through the campaign will go directly towards securing the future of the fleet.

So next time you hear a helicopter overhead, it might not just be a rescue mission… it could also be carrying a little piece of the Isle of Man with it.
