A Family Legacy Set in Stone at King William’s College
There’s something rather lovely happening over at King William’s College and The Buchan, and it comes in the form of three small bricks with some very big meaning.
Parent Gillian Christian recently bought a trio of commemorative bricks as part of the schools’ Rooted in Legacy, Built for the Future pathway.
One of them is dedicated to her late father, Dave Whittle, who was part of the Buchan family, while the other two celebrate her children, who now follow in his footsteps as Buchan alumni and current KWC pupils.
Gillian told the schools the gesture was a way of keeping cherished memories alive.
‘Buchan and KWC were so welcoming and kind – my Dad was part of the Buchan family and the impact they had and the memories they gave us was incredible,’ she said. “The bricks were just a nice way to keep this memory alive.’
The walkway is part of a wider campus redevelopment, inviting families to purchase personalised engraved bricks that will form a permanent part of the new site.
It’s a way of quite literally building the future while honouring the past, whether you’re remembering a loved one, marking your family’s connection to the schools or showing support for the next generation.
If you fancy cementing your own place in the schools’ story (quite literally), you can order a brick as part of the second wave of the campaign.
