The DoI says the Mountain Road will need to close again later this month to finish with tidying up after the MGP.

While the majority of equipment has been removed in the two daytime closures earlier this week, it can take a few days to clear it all.

The road will close from 9.30am on Monday September 25, with Tuesday September 25 being used as a contingency.

The DoI said: ‘The DfE’ main course contractor reports that the lion share of the takedown has been completed on the Mountain, but some equipment remains in situ.

‘We have been informed that the contractor is confident that the remainder of the equipment can be recovered on Monday September 25, with Tuesday September 26 relegated to an alternative date in the event of poor weather such as heavy mist precluding activities on the first date.

‘There is every likelihood that the outstanding work will be competed ahead of the 4.30pm deadline on September 25. If this the case then the road will open earlier than 4.30pm.’
