Busy Day for Rescuers
The second call included a rescue by the RNLI
Yesterday saw two call outs for the Coastguard, which included an extraction by helicopter.
The first call, just after 2.30pm, saw Douglas Coastguard called to assist the Ambulance Service with a casualty from a track just of the Brandywell Road.
The Coastguard explained: ‘We assisted by helping carry the casualty to the waiting Helicopter for transfer to Nobles for treatment, all personnel and equipment was back on station and ready for service again by 4.30pm.’
Just before 9.25pm, volunteers were paged after two people became cut off by the tide at the Oyster Beds at Port Soderick.
Douglas Lifeboat was also launched and Douglas Coastguards deployed two rescue officers as soon as they were on scene in dry suits to establish the exact location and condition of the casualties.
After Douglas Lifeboat was also on scene, they were able to rescue the people and take them back to their main boat before being returned to Douglas Harbour.
