Households using both electricity and gas can expect annual bills of around £2,840.

The figures have been released by the Treasury on the same day UK households were warned they face bills topping £3,500.

Manx Utilities estimates the average household uses 3300KWh. Following the gov’s intervention, a price freeze will remain in place till March (22p per unit), leading to an annual cost of around £840.

This equates to an average of £70 a month across a whole year, although more electricity is likely to be used during winter. The price freeze applies to all electricity customers, including those on pre-payment meters and businesses.

As for gas, the Treasury said: ‘Manx Gas advises that average domestic usage (8,500kWh) in the Isle of Man would lead to an annual cost – using pricing coming into effect on September 1 – of around £2,000.’
