Coastguard Containing Substance in Harbour

Coastguard volunteers have been working to prevent a substance from spreading from Peel Breakwater this morning.

The red substance could be seen on the gov webcam earlier today.

A DoI spokesman said the Coastguard has deployed booms to prevent the red substance from spreading, were removing it from the water and that more details would follow.

Just after 11.15am, the booms looked to have been moved and the discolouring of the sea water appeared to have faded significantly.
