The sand cliffs are very unstable

Peel Coastguard helped rescue a person who was stuck on the cliff south of Glen Wyllin on Sunday evening.

On arrival a quick search of the cliff top identified the exact location of the person.

The volunteer service said a ‘holdfast was quickly set up and a technician was lowered down to secure the casualty’.

‘Once secured both were lowered to the beach approximately 70ft below. The casualty was given safety advice about climbing on the sand cliffs.

‘We would like to remind everyone of the dangers posed by the sand cliffs due to erosion and their unstable nature.’
