Gef’s What’s On: Bollywood you dance with me?

Published

on

Good end of the week to you my friend. How is your January going? That good? Alright, don’t rub it in. Got any plans for this weekend? Didn’t think so. Not with that ‘rubbing it in’ attitude of yours. Lucky for you I have some nice things for you to choose from to stop you staring, depressed, into the tragically bare corner that your Christmas tree used to be in.

Maybe a Mountain Hare Walk

*The uncertainty is of seeing hares, not the walk going ahead

When: Saturday, 13 January

Where: Ballaragh

Time: 9:30am-12:30pm

Tickets: £10 per person. To book, message Ken on 240430 or contact us through www.walking.im

Got some workplace blues going on? You know what the best medicine for that is. A 5.5 mile guided walk up above the Laxey and Corrany valleys. If you go, bring snacks, and wear clothing that’s appropriate for the weather. It’s meant to be frosty so no, wearing your underwear and nothing else will not suffice and may result in you getting arrested for indecent exposure. Come on. It’s a family event.

Bollywood Dance Workshop

*Bollywood you dance with me?

When: Sunday, 14 January

Where: Pilates, Yoga, & Dance Studios Ramsey

Time: 3-5:30pm

This looks like it’ll be awesome. There are fewer natural joys in life than dancing. And, besides Piers Morgan, who doesn’t want to feel joyous in life?  This is also a great one if you have a resolution to try something new in 2024. So, go bust a Bollywood groove up north.

Paint with a Pint: Van Gogh

*Ace for people who don’t want to go to this. Because it’s sold out.

When: Friday, 12 January

Where: Isle of Man Art Society

Time: 7-9pm

Tickets: Here. Sold Out.

What’s the point of putting this on here?! Settle down. I’m GETTING TO THAT. I know it’s sold out but I think it’s such a great idea I just wanted to share it with you so you can keep an eye out for future events, ALRIGHT?! Hopefully this inspires other similar creative nights. Dance with a drink. Sing with some Sangria. Act with an Appletini. Photography with Pimms. Origami with … gin. The potential is endless.

Disc Golf in Jurby

*Good for discuss throwers who failed to go pro.

When: Weekends. Opening times updated on Facebook page.

Place: Jurby, Andreas

This one’s a bit vague, I just wanted to draw your attention to it because Disc Golf is really fun and I’m not sure many people realise the Island has a course. If you haven’t played before, you have to throw a frisbee-like disc (which will be provided) and try get it in the giant baskets in as few throws as possible. Like golf. But better. Fewer rich guys cheating on their wives.

That’s your lot for this week. You have a nice mix of outdoor, indoor, and unavailable activities to choose from. And if none appeal, word on the street is a bunch of elderly locals are planning a fly-tipping party. Will DM you with more deets.
