Gef’s what’s on guide: It’s beginning to look a lot like Xmas markets
It’s been a busy couple of weekends.
Kids recreating the horror of The Voice at the end of October. Singing while you judge whether or not they’re worth the effort of opening the door to give them sweets. Then November came with loads of hot, loud banging, and then there was Bonfire Night.
So, I hope you had a nice, chilled one last weekend because, whether you like it or not, this one coming up is pretty much the beginning of the festive season going off what’s on offer.
There are more Christmas markets than you could shake a candy-cane coloured stick at.
First up:
1: King William’s College Christmas Market
Great for people who love Christmas markets in a knock-off Hogwarts Great Hall.
One of the thousands of festive markets this weekend is at King William’s College. As well as getting to experience more than SIXTY stalls and food vendors, if you can’t afford to go to KWC then it’ll give you an opportunity to see how the finger lickin’ chicken gets made.

Time: 11am-2pm
Price: Free entry. (A rare opportunity where you don’t have to pay to be inside KWC)
Perfect for people who love Christmas markets and Milntown.
The second of the million festive markets on this weekend is up North at one of the most haunted establishments on the Isle of Man. So, alongside your personalised Xmas bauble, you may get a festively Dickensian haunting, where three ghosts force you to question your lifestyle choices, as a bonus.
When: Saturday, 18 Nov
Where: Milntown Estate
Time: 11am-3pm
Price: £2 per adult. Kids go FREE. All donations will go towards the Restoration of the Milntown House.
Wonderful for people who love crafts and Peel.
The third in the BILLION festive markets to pick from this weekend is more crafty than the others. Typical Peel. You sly fox.

Lovely for people who don’t want to go to a Christmas market.
Not ready for the Christmas build up? The Rushen Players have you covered. Why not try some theatre and a ‘charming, sci-fi romantic comedy’. It’s set in the near future, where daytime actors have been replaced by robots known as ‘actoids’. Adam, an idealistic writer who longs to create classic comedies meets Jacie, an actoid who might be more human than anyone realises… (ominous dots)

Outstanding for people who love rugby clubs and vegetables.
I asked Google what a Mhelliah was. For a friend. For those of you who don’t know what it is. It’s a celebration of harvest. Usually homegrown foods are auctioned off and the money raised goes to charity. It’s pretty much the most wholesome thing since the Great British Bake Off. But here no one’s dreams gets smashed to pieces in front of an audience of millions because of a slightly soggy turnip. You may get randomly rugby tackled though.

So, there you have it. Everything to meet your Christmas market, crafts, comedy, and vegetable needs this weekend. And if none of that appeals, if you’re into community pet walking, I’m sure there’ll be some dogging going on somewhere.
