Goats, Nudists and Rollercoasters!

Free goats, a nudist beach and massive rollercoasters are all ideas put forward by artificial intelligence to improve the island.
Manx Technology Group conducted the exercise asking AI important questions about Isle of Man education, taxation, and government policy.
This was done using GPT-3 models, trained on millions of public data sources.
CEO Joe Hughes said: ‘Using several different APIs, AI libraries and models, we asked AI engines several different questions relating to the Isle of Man. The answers to each question are included verbatim (we did not modify the answers). We did use words like ‘crazy’ and ‘radical’ to prompt innovative ideas.’
While it did ask some normal questions, it is the crazy ideas that are the most thought provoking.
When asked 10 crazy ideas how to attract people to the island, suggestions included: ‘Give everyone who moves to the Isle of Man a free goat.’
Other ideas including a giant goat statue, a year festival where people could dress as goats, turning the island into a giant amusement park, a 24 live stream of the island and turning the island into a giant nature reserve.
No Holds Barred
Among other crazy ideas to improve the Isle of Man were a ‘no holds barred rule to the annual Isle of Man TT race, allowing any type of vehicle to enter’.
Other ideas including a giant rollercoaster running the length of the island, which seems a bit like the monorail episode of the Simpsons, a giant man-made lake in the centre of the island, a nude beach in Douglas and setting up an ‘anything goes’ zone in Ramsey where ‘anything is allowed’, yes Ramsey goes the Purge.
The first question asked was if you had £100m to improve life on the Isle of Man, what would it be spent on. These are actually quite normal and focus on upgrading infrastructure, developing the economy, improving education and health care, supporting arts and culture and protecting and enhancing nature.
Equally when asked about what can do be done with an unlimited budget, the focus was on more jobs, better transport, cheaper housing, decriminalising cannabis, minimum age, free education, a shorter working week, universal basic income, a ban on fracking and green energy.
