Food and soft drinks were the biggest contributor
Inflation on the island dropped to 6.9% in June, the first time it’s been below 7% since March 2022.
Food and soft drinks were the biggest contributor to the rate of inflation with an increase of 16%.
Pork experienced the highest rise at 35.8% compared with twelve months ago, as ‘Restaurants and hotels’ exhibited the second biggest increase, having risen 13.4% compared with 12 months ago.
Other big increases were sea travel, which was up 41.9%, while electricity was up 42.1% and eggs were up 32.7% on a year ago.
Amongst the decreases, gas is down -12.2%, while petrol and fuel is down -15.1%.
