Main Road Closed from Tomorrow
Work starts tomorrow to repair parts of the structure, and then resurface the road from the base of Richmond Hill back up to Fort North roundabout.
Work starts tomorrow to repair parts of the structure, and then resurface the road from the base of Richmond Hill back up to Fort North roundabout.
One side of the road in that section has become sunken with the DoI saying the work will take about six weeks.
For the bulk of the period all traffic on the New Castletown Road travelling between Douglas and the south will be diverted onto the Energy From Waste access road between Kewaigue Hill and the base of Richmond Hill.
For the duration of these works, Richmond Hill and the EFW will have a temporary speed limit of 30mph.
The EFW Road has also been designated a clearway to ensure there are no hold ups along this route.
It is planned to open the diversion route at about 9.30am on Monday.
