Maughold Kicks Off Christmas in Style

Published

Last night (Sunday), Maughold Green was buzzing as over 200 mums, dads and festive fans turned out for Carols on the Green, brilliantly organised by Maughold Parish Social Club.

The Christmas story came to life right there on the ancient green, complete with donkeys, sheep and plenty of festive cheer.

After mulled wine and mince pies warmed everyone up, many wandered into the candlelit church to finish the evening on a truly magical note.

A spokesperson for the church said: ‘Maughold was probably one of the first places on the island to hear about the birth of Jesus over 1,600 years ago and it is good to see that this heritage is still alive… After the mulled wine and mince pies many of those present wandered into the ancient candlelit church to complete the evening. Happy Christmas to all!’
