Peel Blokes Bottled It
A micro pub in Peel has been forced to postpone its over-50s speed dating night after a serious shortage of eligible local lads willing to put themselves out there.
The event, which was due to take place tomorrow night (Thursday) at Miller’s T’ale on Michael Street, was meant to help Peel’s mature romantics find love over a few pints and some well-timed banter.
Tickets were just a tenner, which in dating terms is an absolute bargain, especially if you consider how much a decent haircut costs these days.
Sadly, the pub announced today that the night won’t be going ahead just yet.
The reason? Not enough fellas over 50 stepped up.
Posting on social media, the team at the island’s only micro pub said: ‘Regretfully, we have to postpone tomorrow night’s speed dating event.
‘There have not been enough men over 50 coming forward to take part.
‘Refunds will be issued shortly and we will announce a new date after TT.’
They didn’t stop there though.
In a perfectly Peel mic-drop moment, they added: ‘In the meantime every pint sold to a man of Peel will come with free backbone!’
It’s not yet clear what form this ‘free backbone’ will take – physical, emotional, or metaphorical – but if you’re a shy gent in the west over the age of 50, consider this your official call-up.
So for now, love will have to wait. But don’t worry, romance might just be back on tap after TT.
