Podcaster Percy Says it’s Time to Ditch the Doom and Gloom About the Isle of Man
Manx podcaster and TikTok favourite Percy Hampton has told islanders to pack it in with the constant moaning and start offering solutions instead.
Percy, who has built a growing following through his podcast What’s the Skeet? Conversations with Percy and his hugely popular TikTok account (now sitting at more than 13,000 followers), shared a candid message about what he sees as a rising tide of negativity aimed at the Isle of Man online.
Speaking to his followers, Percy said: “You look on social media and all you see is negativity. Keyboard warriors etc etc on Facebook, complaining and whinging about what’s going on here.”
But while he accepts the island isn’t perfect, Percy said endless grumbling helps no one.
He added: ‘If you’re going to whinge and moan, at least explain how to improve the problem, because I’m sick to death of this negative stigma that’s going on on the Isle of Man.’
Percy went on to describe the island as ‘a lovely place’, acknowledging there may be issues with how things are run, but urging people to put forward ideas rather than simply tearing things down online.
Since launching What’s the Skeet? in February 2025, Percy’s podcast has become a space for open conversations about life on the island, featuring voices from across the Manx community.
Away from the mic, he’s just as well known for sharing life on the farm, teaching local children to horse ride, and generally spreading a bit of joy, usually with a healthy dose of humour.
Gef reckons Percy might be onto something: less keyboard warfare, more bright ideas, and maybe a bit more love for the Rock we all call home. Alternatively, is it that bad we must stand up and shout about issues?
