Storm Agnes Rolling Update

Hey everyone! Like Christmas music in shops, storm updates come round earlier each year.
Since this has now been updated to an Amber (Baker) warning, this is where we’ll be issuing our rolling updates for the rest of the day.

Warnings:
Coastal Overtopping: Gale to severe gale force south to southwest winds, coupled with the time of high tide will create some large waves and lead to significant overtopping of sea water and debris onto exposed coastal roads and promenades around the time of high tide tonight (~11pm). The areas most at risk are Shore Road Rushen, Castletown Promenade, the northern end of Douglas Promenade, and Laxey & Ramsey Promenades.
Inner Harbour Flooding: The high tide and large surge values will also lead to some minor inner harbour flooding (YELLOW warning level) in some of the islands harbours around tonight’s high tide. The areas most at risk are the Tongue in Douglas and West Quay and Mezeron Corner in Ramsey. Flood defences need to be deployed for Castletown harbour.

Emergency Services
Manx Care: ‘Please consider whether attending the Emergency Department is necessary at this time, or whether waiting until conditions are safer to get the support you need is feasible. However, anyone who requires urgent or emergency treatment at the Emergency Department will receive it, and you should continue to seek treatment there as required.’

Ferries
All boats are cancelled, next passenger sailing will be the 2.15am sailing from Heysham tonight.
Flights
This evening’s Gatwick flights have been cancelled, though this is due to ATC shortages at Gatwick.
EI3216/EI3217 from/to Dublin are cancelled due to weather conditions.
TRAVEL UPDATE – 18:30 27/09/2023
Flights LM677/8 from/to London City and the LM687/8 to/from Liverpool have been cancelled due to the adverse weather.
Flights EZY011/2 from/to Belfast International has been cancelled, after several attempts the crew decided it wasn’t safe to land.
Roads
Lezayre Road is blocked at present.
Buses that serve this area will divert from Sulby Bridge, St Judes Road & Jurby Road on-route to Ramsey and vice versa for the rest of the evening.
The police the following roads are having issues with trees.
