Walk the Iron Road
Meet at St Johns School car park entrance (off Station Road) for 12.30pm
This Saturday sees the first of guided railway walks between St.Johns and Peel.
Organised in collaboration with MNH and Isle of Man transport, the walks are supported by the Isle of Man Heritage Railways Volunteers.
These guided walk go between the former railway station in St Johns along the former track bed to Peel, offersing a fascinating insight into the line’s history from 1873 until closure in 1968.
On arrival into Peel the guides will take you into the House of Manannan, which is built on the site of the former Peel Railway Station, to look at the Raad Yiarn/Iron Road exhibition with displays of artefacts and pictures celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Douglas to Peel line.
