Inquest Opened into Pilot’s Death
Karl Bettoney, 64, from Laxey died on Monday July 17.
The inquest into the death of the pilot who died after his light aircraft crashed into Bradda Head has been opened this morning.
Karl Bettoney, 64, from Laxey died on Monday July 17.
The crash sparked a major rescue mission by the emergency services, RNLI and Coastguard volunteers as beach goers watched black smoke rise from the back of Milner’s Tower.
Mr Bettoney suffered several injuries from ‘blast and impact trauma’.
Coroner of Inquests James Brooks adjourned the inquest sine die to allow for further investigations to take place and extended his condolences to Mr Bettoney’s family.
