PwC Isle of Man has welcomed Everitt Newton as an advisory manager to the team, leading on sustainability and climate change solutions.

Having worked in New York and London, Everitt relocated to the Isle of Man in 2023 and brings consulting experience and insights from working with international clients across financial services, real estate, utility, oil and gas, and manufacturing.

Ferran Munoz-Lopez, partner at PwC Isle of Man, said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Everitt to the PwC Isle of Man team. He brings significant capability and experience to our Advisory team in an important focus area for local and international clients who are being proactive in preparing for a sustainable future.’

School Support

A Junior Achievement programme which has reached 7,000 pupils island-wide is set to continue for the next five years with support from the Scheinberg family.

For the past decade, Junior Achievement (JA) has been running the ‘Our World’ initiative which combines skills development with raising the important topic of how countries trade with each other.

Now, courtesy of funding provided by the Scheinbergs, the charity can continue to run the programme until 2029, reaching every year six pupil in education. Their ongoing support allows JA to employ two part-time programme managers who run workshops in each school.

The interactive challenge has been designed so every student can collaborate regardless of their academic ability. Whilst completing the workshop, pupils learn the importance of teamwork, listening to one another and are encouraged to use their communication skills.

Sue Cook, CEO of Junior Achievement, said ‘The support from the Scheinberg family has meant every young person in local education over the last 10 years has participated in the Our World programme for which we are extremely grateful.

‘During that time, we have received wonderful feedback from teachers and parents about how much the children enjoy their hands-on learning experience. Some teachers have also told us how lovely it is to see all children engaged, including those with special educational needs.

‘Pupils are inspired to think creatively to learn what it takes to develop a new product for export to another country. They design a product and a marketing campaign, consider the target market and then present their idea to the rest of the class.

‘We are naturally delighted the funding for this programme will be continued for a further five years.’

Film Night

Peel Centenary Centre is hosting a film night to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the RNLI. The centre will be showing Fisherman’s Friends: One and All, which is a film based on the group of singing Cornish fishermen (and RNLI volunteers) who found themselves playing the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.
