Roads

Mountain remains closed from Ramsey to the Creg

The B22 West Baldwin Road is closed due to a fallen tree which is blocking the road. The closure is from a point close to the Injebreck reservoir to the junction with the Beinney Phott Road. This road will be closed until tomorrow.

An update from the DoI: ‘A3 Ramsey to Castletown Road between Ballig, nr Ballacraine, German to Douglas Road Corner, Kirk Michael

‘As well last night’s heavy snowfall. which has drifted in some places, there have been multiple trees down on the road between Ballig and Glen Helen, We have had a team working along the road removing them from first thing this morning.
Our snowblower has been clearing the road from the Lambfell end and will be joined by other equipment, as staff and equipment become available from clearing other roads and estates. The closure on this section of road will be extended until midday tomorrow (Saturday 11 March). This will be reviewed at that time in the light of the prevailing conditions at that time.’

Villa

The VillaGaiety will reopen today at 11am. The Dragon’s Castle Pop in and Play session at 10am has been cancelled. Any bookings will be refunded or can be moved to another session. The 12 Noon session will go ahead as planned.
The Villa Marina doors and bars will open for the Isle of Man Festival of Darts at 11am.
Young Farmers’ Concert is postponed.

Businesses:

EVF has said: ‘Our dedicated team of drivers are delivering today, where is is safe to do so. Please assist by ensuring access to tanks are clear, and areas are salted for ease of access. Some customers scheduled for a delivery today, may find we deliver to you yesterday as we planned ahead for the change in weather. Please also be aware it may take slightly longer getting round customers today due to road conditions on some parts of the island.’

Most, if not all, EVF stores have opened this morning, with some staff sledging their way to work, such dedication.

Creamery: ‘We’re going to be making our doorstep deliveries early again today to avoid the freezing temperatures and ice overnight.

As such the cut off for amendments to orders will be 11:30am this morning.’

Gov Stuff:

The NSC’s swimming pool and gym will be open today from midday to 4pm. However, all swimming lessons, Manx Youth Games sessions and youth clubs have been cancelled. At this time all other facilities remain closed due to the conditions.
On Saturday, the NSC will not open until at least 10am, when a further announcement will be made.

If you are expecting your bin to be emptied in Garff today, it ain’t happening. If there is an adequate thaw in the next 24 hours the collection may take place tomorrow.

The Southern Swimming Pool will not open before 4pm.

Douglas Council: ‘Due to the current road conditions there will be no Refuse or Recycling collections today.
If you were due for a collection today this will now be rearranged, we will update shortly.’
The Southern Recycling Centre will be open later today at Noon to allow the team time to clear the site.

Trains

Services from Douglas Station at 1.50pm and 3.50pm and Port Erin Station at 2pm and 4pm, will go ahead as snow trains.
