A lot of police time is wasted with people making malicious and repetitive complaints
A lot of police time is wasted with people making malicious and repetitive complaints.
The annual chief constable’s report has been published on the Tynwald business register.
In what is the final report of ex chief Gary Roberts, he reports a 7% increase in recorded crime, with a 23% increase in incidents of theft.
Mr Roberts said that the rise of shoplifting, which rise by a third, was ‘perhaps indicative of the struggles that some people are facing because of very high levels of inflation, especially in terms of food prices’.
Conspiracy Theorists
Across the year, Mr Roberts said there were 52 low-level informal complaints against the police, with five formal ones.
He added: ‘A lot of time was wasted, though, by fixated individuals who sought to make repetitive, or even malicious, complaints that were often a product of their own conspiracy theories or personal obsessions.’
