Emergency Services Called to Supermarket
Villagers posted on Facebook saying smoke could be seen rising above the area of the store.
Fire crews and the police have attended what appears to be a small fire at Onchan’s Shoprite.
Villagers posted on Facebook saying smoke could be seen rising above the area of the store.
Fire crews were seen going through the village at about 9am before attending the scene with the Police.
The Fire Service said: ‘A number of pallets and packaging were on fire, crews wearing breathing apparatus with two hose reels quickly extinguished the fire. There was no damage to the shop and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.’
The store is one of the remaining Shoprite stores that is yet to be converted into a Tesco following its takeover of the formerly Manx-owned brand.
