Lifeboat’s Nighttime Rescue
Crews were paged at about 10pm
Peel lifeboat volunteers went to the aid of a RIB that suffered engine trouble on Saturday night.
Crews were paged at about 10pm to support the RIB which was three nautical miles offshore.
In calm conditions, the Shannon Lifeboat ‘Frank and Brenda Winter’ launched under command of coxswain Mike Faragher, and made their way west towards the casualty vessel.
A tow was established with the rib and the two vessels proceeded back to Peel harbour, arriving after midnight.
Mike said: ‘The casualty did exactly the right thing in calling for assistance when they realised they were in difficulty. They had all the correct safety equipment and remained calm throughout the process. The lifeboat proved, again, just how efficient and well equipped it is to help us locate those in difficulty and bring them to safety. It’s an invaluable asset that really does help us save lives at sea.’
