More Than Half The Cars Fail Latest Roadside Checks
A total of 47 vehicles were stopped and examined in the Police’s latest roadside checks, and 25 of them were found defective.
Cops set up in Ballasalla last night (Thursday), joined by the vehicle experts from the Vehicle Testing Centre, ready to see if our cars were roadworthy.
Drivers were slapped with Vehicle Defect Rectification Notices for dodgy lights, worn tyres, empty washer fluid, and cracked mirrors.
Four drivers weren’t so lucky and picked up points and fines for more serious tyre offences.
Police said it was disappointing that more than half the vehicles had a defect, and reminded everyone to give their cars a proper check before heading out.
In other words: look after your car, or Operation Uplift will catch you out.
