Peel Coastguard and RNLI volunteers came together to help rescue people from a boat which capsized just after 6pm this evening.

The dinghy had overturned at the back of Peel Castle.

When crews arrived, the boat had capsized, people were in the water and risked being blown out to sea with the RNLI lifeboat quickly launching to go to their aid.

The Coastguard said: ‘The casualties were recovered from the water cold but unharmed and brought back to the boathouse to warm up. The upturned yacht was then recovered back to Peel breakwater where Peel Coastguard righted the yacht and with the help of the lifeboats salvage pump re floated it. The yacht was recovered to the slip and back onto its trailer. The sailors made the correct decision to make a 999 call and hit the VHF distress button to alert the Coastguard and RNLI by a Mayday.
