The world’s largest bony fish has been spotted in Manx waters.

Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch said the sunfish was spotted last Friday.

The charity said: ‘It was reported off Port Erin and west of the Sound as seen in this video taken by Buster Nixon and Mick Flemming. Sunfish are rare visitors here and the last sighting was in July 2021 on one of the hottest days of the year.

‘They have a distinctive floppy fin which flaps about at the surface, and a huge oval shaped body which looks a bit like a dinner plate on its side.’
