‘Extremely High Demand’ at A&E
Waiting times for treatment of minor injuries and illnesses will be significantly extended
Manx Care says it is experiencing extremely high demand through the Noble’s ED this morning, with a sustained increase in the numbers of patients who need to be admitted.
As a result, waiting times for treatment of minor injuries and illnesses will be significantly extended whilst nurses and medical resources are committed to treating the most sick patients in the department.
Manx Care said: ‘We therefore ask that anyone seeking treatment for a minor illness or injury uses the Ramsey Minor Injuries Unit open from 8am to 8pm with x-ray facilities available or the MEDS Service which is open from 6pm until midnight.
‘Treatment may also be available from local Pharmacies under the Minor Ailment Scheme (https://www.gov.im/…/pharmacy…/minor-ailments-scheme/).
‘Minor Eye Conditions can also be treated via the Minor Eye Conditions Service based in Specsavers in Douglas. This guide will signpost you to the most appropriate service or clinician depending on the level of support you need: https://www.gov.im/signposting. ‘
