Coffee Shop Plans Outdoor Seating
If approved, the seating would be on the Nelson Street side
Roots in the City has applied to add outdoor seating to its Douglas coffee shop.
The plans (24/00084/B) would see the seating installed, with an awning, at its Nelson House based on Prospect Hill in Douglas.
If approved, the seating would be on the Nelson Street side, opposite the Thirsty Pigeon, which already has an outside area.
The application says the outdoor cafe area would ‘extend along the length of Roots Nelson Street elevation and out to the centre line of the longitudinal paving as per the other pavement cafes in central Douglas’.
Due to the steepness of the lane, Roots would install a decking so to level it and it would not be fixed to the building so it could be removed if necessary.
