Plans Submitted for 26ft Tall Bird
It would sit on a freestanding concrete base through a baseplate connection, sitting on a disused concrete foundation in the harbour.
Castletown could be home to an 8m tall statue of a heron if planners give their backing to the proposal.
The sculpture is approximately 8m high, with a heron-shaped body circa 4.2m by 1.7m.

Created by renowned international artists Stephanie Quayle and Darren Jackson in two sections. The Heron would be the key piece on the developing Silverburn Art Trail which covers the route along the Silverburn River from its outlet in Castletown Harbour, up to Silverdale Glen.
It has been funded from a grant by the Lottery Trust made to The Creative Network, but will be gifted to Castletown Commissioners on installation.
The application said: ‘DOl Harbours, DOl Highways and ourselves have all had input in the planning of this project and are all hugely supportive of it.’
Castletown Town Commissioners said of the application: ‘The Commissioners often assist community groups and we are pleased to have been able to assist the artistic community in making the planning application in an attempt to realise their vision.
