Ashford to Chair Housing Board

David Ashford has been appointed as the chair of the Housing and Communities Board.

The role also means he will be a member of the Cabinet Office.

In his new role, the former treasury minister will will work with both the Housing and Communities Board and the Housing Division in the DoI to develop proposals for a national housing association.

He said: ‘I am delighted to have been asked by the Chief Minister to take on the role as Chair of the Housing and Communities Board.

‘Housing policy is of central strategic importance to the future of our island.  I look forward to using my previous political experience in this area to deliver better housing outcomes for our community.’

The Douglas North MHK replaces Chris Thomas who resigned after his sacking as DoI minister.

Mr Ashford is currently the chair of the planning committee, but it has not been confirmed if he is to continue in this role or not.
