Campaign Group to Host Meeting on Assisted Dying

A meeting will take place in support of Alex Allinson’s assisted dying bill on Thursday October 19.
Hosted by the Isle of Man branch of campaign group Dignity in Dying, the event will take place at the South Douglas old Friends Association in Finch Road, and will be held from 7pm to 8.30pm.
It comes before the second reading of the Assisted Dying Bill which is set to take place in Tynwald’s October sitting.
The bill aims to give terminally-ill adults the right to, at their request, with specified assistance, end their own life.
The speakers for the event include Lord Charlie Falconer, former UK Lord Chancellor who led an Assisted Dying Bill in the House of Lords in Westminster, Dr Tim Howard, retired GP and former chairman of GMC tribunals (medical regulator).
Also making speeches will be Millie Blenkinsop-French, Douglas campaigner for Dignity in Dying who will share her family’s experience as well as Ramsey MHK Dr Alex Allinson, who put forward the Assisted Dying Bill.
