Chair Appointed to Ramsey ‘Land Grab’ Inquiry
As the first step of that inquiry, Mr Taylor will host a pre-inquiry meeting in October
Advocate Peter Taylor has been appointed chair the inquiry into a proposed expansion to Ramsey’s boundaries.
Ramsey is seeking to expand the town’s boundaries as the commissioners say it has ran out of room.
The land in question currently sits within the parish districts of Lezayre and Garff, a number of residents and both local authorities are opposing the move, dubbed a ‘land grab’ by some.
To determine whether or not to grant the extension, the Local Government Act 1985 requires there to be a public inquiry.
As the first step of that inquiry, Mr Taylor will host a pre-inquiry meeting at 10am on Monday October 2 in the Mountain View Innovation Centre on Jurby Road, Ramsey.
The meeting won’t discuss the merits of the proposal, but will outline the procedures to be followed at the inquiry, discuss the programme for and presentation of evidence at the inquiry, discuss the timetable and venue for the inquiry, encourage this with common cause to work together and to discuss any other preliminary issues.
After this meeting, a further notice will be issued confirming when and where the inquiry will be held.
