Filling in the Cracks
DoI Minister Tim Crookall was asked for figures from the service by Ayre & Michael MHK Tim Johnston.
The DoI received 821 reports of defects on its Notify.im app and website between August and February, clearing 521 within 24 hours of them being reported.
DoI Minister Tim Crookall was asked for figures from the service by Ayre & Michael MHK Tim Johnston.
During the six month period from the August 1 2021 to the February 1 2022, the Customer Services team received a total of 821 jobs via our smartphone app ‘Notify.im’ and the ‘Report a Problem’ website.
Mr Crookall said: ‘Of the 821 jobs received, 649 jobs were cleared, with the following timescales:
- Within 24 hours - 521 jobs cleared
- Within 1 week - 32 jobs cleared
- Beyond 1 week - 96 jobs cleared
The status of the remaining 72 jobs is as follows:
- Open/Ongoing – 57 jobs
- Requires further investigation/programming – 114 jobs
- Abandoned – 1 job.’
Priority 1
Out of the 821 jobs received during this period, 529 were classed as Priority 1 (to be attended to within 24 hours). Of those, the minister said 429 of those were cleared within 24 hours, 65 within a week and seven took over a week. He added: ‘Of the remaining jobs, 27 jobs have had initial works to make them safe and require further work, whilst one job was abandoned.’
There are four categories of work, emergency defects, where there is an immediate hazard which is either repaired or made safe as soon as possible, as well as urgent defects where they don’t pose an immediate risk or imminent hazard, but they do represent an increased risk. Work to make the defect safe could be carrying out temporary repairs or cordoning off.
Priority 2 defects are ones which don’t pose an immediate or imminent hazards to users; however, they do represent an increased risk to road users. These may further deteriorate and lead to more severe defects if left unresolved and should be remedied within one working week.
The other works, those which are planned, are prioritised according to the Highway Management Plan.
