Harmer’s Back!
Mike Wade stood down last month
Former MHK Ray Harmer is back in politics, joining the board of Peel Commissioners.
Mr Harmer, formerly DoI Minister, lost his seat in Keys when he narrowly came third in the 2021 general election.
The vacancy on the board arose after Mike Wade stood down last month saying his Black Dog Oven business meant he wasn’t able to give the role the time it deserves.
With the announcement of a by-election, Mr Harmer was the only candidate to be nominated.
He will serve on the board until the next local authority general election in April 2025.
During this time, Peel Commissioners will have a hand in the future of planning policy with the Area Plan for the North and West and resolving historic issues around sewage treatment in Sunset City.
