The figures which are for third quarter 2022/23 was released by DoI Minister Chris Thomas.
Replying to a written question from David Ashford (Douglas North) Mr Thomas said: ‘The department collects and provides quarterly data from local authority public sector housing providers on a range of performance data, including the total number of applicants on housing waiting lists.’
As the biggest housing provider, Douglas is, unsurprisingly, had the largest waiting list, making up over a quarter of all across the island (224).
The DoI itself is the next highest on the list with 115 and Onchan has 93.
Douglas Council’s latest figures from the end of February revealed that it had thirty-one vacant properties receiving attention and nine properties were ready for allocation.
Mr Thomas added: ‘There is no formal obligation for housing providers to collect and provide data relating to the number of applicants waiting for particular property sizes, so this information cannot be provided.’
