Pipeline Plans Not Yet Finished
It plans to build a sewage plant in Axnfell plantation.
Manx Utilities says work to finalise pipeline routes and pumping station locations in Garff is ongoing, but it is reliant on others.
It plans to build a sewage plant in Axnfell plantation and end the pumping of raw sewage into Laxey bay.
Since early plans were unveiled to build a treatment site in the plantation, the MUA has said it will serve both Laxey and Baldwin, with the main pumping stations at Laxey harbour and at Baldrine.
However, others will be needed along the route and plans will need to be finalised for the route of the system.
The MUA said: ‘Once agreements are in place with landowners, and those directly affected by pipeline routes have been informed we will announce the details to Garff Commissioners and then the general public.
‘Due to the reliance of third parties throughout this process we unfortunately cannot give a firm timeline. We are hopeful that it will be in the near future and are doing all we can to progress this as a priority.’
The scheme has been met with some local opposition on the grounds of smell and HGV wagons needing to access the site once a day.
