Unemployment Rises Slightly

The number of people out of work has seen a slight increase for the third consecutive month, rising to 302.

Unemployment has increased by 17 persons from the previous month (June 2022), and has decreased by 143 persons compared to the same month last year.

The International labour organisation estimates that there are 747 people current unemployed and looking for work, compared with 730 in June.

There has also been a drop in the number of live vaccines, with 879 jobs going unfilled, a drop of 100 compared to June. Of these, 54% (476) were full time positions and 46% (403) were part time. Trends show that since April, there has been a continuous decrease in the number of vacancies received by the Job Centre.

Catering and entertainment has the highest number of vacancies remaining, with 198 roles going unfilled, followed by medical and health services with 120.
