Vacancy: DoI Minister
The Cannan administration is looking to recruit a new scapegoat
The Cannan administration is looking to recruit a new scapegoat to lead the Department of Infrastructure.
Your core duties will include arguing with anonymous accounts on Twitter, explaining to pensioners in Maughold why it isn’t possible to divert the MER nearer to their house and ensuring the bus timetable continues to be indecipherable to all but the best of UCM’s graduates.
You will also be expected to take responsibility for previous cockups, including explaining why a ferry terminal built on land that the Luftwaffe tried to bomb has got so far over budget it would’ve been cheaper to have the island moved closer to Liverpool on the back of the Ben-my-Chree.
This isn’t all fun and games though, it also requires some more serious work, such as outlining to a Mr Moorhouse of Arbory, Castletown and Malew what the rules are around steam trains blowing their whistles at horses and telling a Ms Faragher of Douglas East that the prom is finished, even if it looks worse than before work started.
Salary
As the job is only open to MHKs, it’s your basic £71,610 plus 15% (no seriously, a basic MHKs salary is £71,610, you can check that here)
Job Prospects
Well, there’s an election in three years, so we’d advise making your worst mistakes now, as long as it doesn’t affect your constituency too much, you should be ok.
Applying
If you’ve given up on a career as an MHK, feel free to email your applications to MakeMeaMinister@gov.im or just go on Twitter and praise the Chief’s recent successful trip to London while drawing funny facial hair on pictures of Rob Callister, Chris Thomas and Tim Crookall.
