What Does Village’s Future Look Like?

Port Erin Commissioners is looking to engage with residents about the future of the village’s public spaces.
Urban designer Betty Laurincova’s is leading a discussion while creating a collaborative drawing of the ideal public space
The first evening will see a pop-up stand on the Port Erin Railway station where people can stop to express their opinions, ideas and wishes for the future public spaces of Port Erin. These are, for example, streets, squares or parks.
The local authority said: ‘Do you think every public space needs an ice cream stand? An urban garden or a fountain? Please stop by, and tell us. All ideas are welcome, and the motto is that there are no bad ideas. The Pop-up event will run in two sessions, the morning one on the February 28 and the afternoon one on the 1st of March at the Port Erin station.’
The second activity is an online survey. It is open for everybody with some multiple-choice and open-end questions.
The local authority is also holding a competition for people to design what they think a good town square looks like.
