From Peel Railway Line to The Olympics

Wednesday night sees Manx cycling royalty, Marie Morgan, take part in a Q&A at Cycle 360.

The Women’s Cycling Q&A Evening will see at panel discuss how to encourage more women to ride and race on the Isle of Man.

Organised and led by Sacha Horsthuis, the evening is part of a bid to encourage more female representation within cycling at all levels.

Former Olympian and Tour de France stage winner, Marie Morgan, will also share her inspiring story on how cycling along the Manx railway lines from Douglas to Peel was her stepping stone to her cyclingsuccess in her 20s, 30s and 40s.

Sacha said: ‘I could talk all day about the utter joy of being on a bike but I’d be lying if I didn’t talk about some of the barriers that keep me from riding and also racing my bike, which I know many other women feel the same about.  

‘The idea of putting on this informative event is to bring like-minded women together as a range of voices to explore some of these issues, identify solutions to get more women cycling, and discuss what actions could potentially be put in place to improve the situation.

‘This free Q&A evening is an open invitation to all women who love to cycle, and those who may be interested in starting out. We want to find a collaborative way for organisations including Cycle 360, local bike clubs and local athletes to work together to facilitate women’s cycling events in a way that isn’t too onerous on an individual.’
