Ramsey

Police in the north of the island have moved to allay fears of parents about a man who was said to have approached a young person.

A statement said: ‘In relation to the recent media headlines surrounding a youth being approached in Ramsey by a stranger.
We understand the concerns of anxious parents following Manx Radios story titled ‘Mother’s fear after son is approached by stranger’. We would like to reassure the public that we know the identity of the person involved and there are no grounds to believe that the male is a threat to children. He himself is a vulnerable adult with special needs and we are working with our partners at Manx Care to make sure his welfare is properly supported.’

Kirk Michael

Isle of Man Post Office says it has reached an agreement with EVF to provide postal services in Kirk Michael.

From Thursday March 2, the village’s petrol station will be providing counter services as well as a parcel collection service. Initially the opening hours will be 10am to 4pm Mon-Fri and 10am to 12pm on Saturday while training is undertaken, and from week commencing March 13, 9am to 5.30pm Mon-Fri and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturday, with parcel collection services available at all times when EVF’s main facilities are open.

Stu Peters MHK, Chairman of Isle of Man Post Office, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome EVF as the new provider in Kirk Michael and hope the residents will welcome the return of a postal counter, as well a parcel collection service, to the village. The location offers extended opening hours, improved parking facilities and good levels of accessibility. We would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding while the procurement exercise was undertaken.

‘IOMPO would also like to express its sincere thanks to Ballaugh Post Office, who during the break in service, have operated extended opening hours for customers who previously accessed postal services in Kirk Michael.’

Away Fans

As much as we love FC Isle of Man and the Ravens’ fans, we have to tip a hat to the fans of Brackley Town this week who took a 400 mile, eight hour, round trip just to watch a National League North 0-0 draw.

The fans who made the trip were treated to a beer by Scarborough Athletic chairman Trevor Bull.

Brackley fan Guy Smith told the BBC that the fans were ‘gobsmacked’ by the gesture. He said the supporters were delayed as part of the M1 was closed and it took almost four hours to get to the ground. Mr Smith said he got back to Brackley after midnight, dropped two fans off before eventually driving home.
