Innocent Creatures

Kensington Arts is taking part in the National Theatre’s Connections programme with their production of “Innocent Creatures” by Leo Butler.

Connections is a nationwide youth theatre festival that has been supporting and showcasing the talent of young people in the UK for 27 years. As part of the programme, the National Theatre commissions ten new plays each year for young people to perform. The programme works with 300 youth companies and over 6,000 young people from across the UK.

David Dawson, who returns to direct the show, assisted by Ben Gale, said: ‘We are thrilled to be participating in National Theatre Connections once again. As the world's largest youth festival, it has provided an incredible opportunity for our young Island performers to showcase their talents and bring new plays to life in cities like York, Cardiff, Bath, Warwick,
and Inverness.’

Creative Development Co-Ordinator at Kensington Arts, Peter Shimmin added: ‘The impact of participating in Connections has been immeasurable for our young performers. Our participation in the festival at the National Theatre last year really helped hone the skills of our young performers and gave them a once in a lifetime opportunity. Even more importantly, they formed lasting friendships and a sense of community. It has truly been a valuable experience for all involved.’

Performances will take place at Kensington Arts on Friday March 17 and Saturday March 18 at 7pm. Tickets are available now at www.kensingtonarts.im or at the Villa Marina and Welcome Centre.

Spaniards

Rushen United captain Ste Riding has been named Cap FA Cup player  of the round for his contribution during the Spaniards’ 3-1 win over Ayre United

Riding scored a brace as Rushen progressed to the quarter final stage of the competition, which returns on Saturday. Due to the timescale, Stephen will be officially collecting his award and Champagne at Croit Lowey on Saturday.

Walking Football

For sport at a more leisurely pace, The 2023 IOMFA Walking Football 6 aside League will be starting towards the end of the month. T

he league targets over 45 year old players and seeks to promote physical and mental exercise and health benefits. It will run as a 10 week league from Monday March 20 through to Monday May 22 and will be played in the evenings at St Johns AFC.

The FA said: ‘We would love more club teams to enter! If would like to enter a club team or if you want any further information on how to start a new team, please email lewis.qualtrough@isleofmanfa.com. The entry deadline is Wednesday March 15.’
